A Decade of Change
Like much of the world, Cultivate Art Commons underwent a significant transition in 2020 when public-facing organizations were required to close their doors. Throughout 2020 and 2021, the organization pivoted to virtual exhibitions, workshops, and makefests, sustaining a sense of connection and creativity within the community during the gallery’s closure.
In 2022, Cultivate Art Commons marked its 45th Anniversary with a year-long celebration that included free community workshops, offsite exhibitions highlighting the Archives, and partnerships with local arts festivals such as the Skeleton Park Arts Festival and the Women’s Art Festival. The anniversary year culminated in a large celebratory event at the Tett Centre, welcoming over 200 community members, local artists, musicians, and former board and staff members.
This decade has been defined by resilience and adaptability, as Cultivate Art Commons continues to redirect its resources to meet the evolving needs of its members and broader community. More than ever, the 2020s underscored the importance of creating space for connection, collaboration, and growth in an ever-changing world.
