Different Yet Similar Breath 닮은 숨 explores identity in flux through adult language acquisition in Montreal. Drawing from Munjado, a Korean folk art tradition that treats written characters as images, fragmented mother tongue (Hangul) and botanical motifs move across paper, digital prints, and ceramics — tracing what is carried across languages, what is slipped between them, and what quietly becomes something new.

Jongwook Park

Jongwook Park is a Korean-born visual artist based in Montreal. More fluent in visual language than verbal, his practice explores the emotional and psychological complexities of navigating between Korean, French, and English — the social customs, cultural subtleties, and quiet negotiations that shape an immigrant journey. Drawing folk art (Minhwa) motifs and fragmenting Hangul characters into migrating patterns, his practice is grounded in hand drawing and moves across flat to dimensional materials to capture what emerges in the spaces between languages.
