Cultivate Art Commons is about helping artists grow. Rooted in community, it embodies mentorship, care, creativity, personal growth and friendship.
As we look ahead to our 50th anniversary, we’re celebrating a band that we supported early in their journey, hosting one of their first concerts in 1982 at the then Terrapin Tavern, now The Toucan & Kirkpatrick’s. That band was The Tragically Hip, who went on to become one of Canada’s most celebrated musical acts, earning nine No. 1 albums, 14 Juno Awards, and a street named in their honour.
The Tragically Hip have generously donated an autographed photograph of the band, signed by all its members, including the late Gord Downie. We’re raffling this special piece of Canadian music history to raise funds in support of our ongoing mission: nurturing a thriving ecosystem for artists through affordable workshops, shared tools and an accessible, welcoming space where artists and community members can connect, collaborate and grow together.
The K.A.A.I. newsletter from August 1982 that mentions the Benefit Party.
A heartfelt thank you to The Tragically Hip for generously donating this signed print, and to Kingston Frameworks for the beautiful framing.
